Brush Busters is a cooperative program of the Texas Cooperative Extension and the Texas Agricultural Experiment Station to expedite the adoption of Tactical Brush Management Systems (TBMS) technology. The program was designed by Dr. Allan McGinty and Dr. Darrell Ueckert.
In a partnership with DowElanco Chemical Company, large demonstration plots were installed at five locations. Field days and workshops were held at sites to demonstrate the Brush Busters control techniques. A leaflet was distributed at all Brush Busters workshops, tours, and educational programs. To compliment the leaflet, a video demonstrating Brush Buster leaf and stem sprays for mesquite was developed. It was distributed to all herbicide retailers and interested purchasers within Texas. In addition, each Agricultural Extension Agent in the 23 county area was provided with a Brush Busters notebook to support county level programming efforts. Data obtained from the Brush Busters program are presented in three sections mesquite, cedar and pricklypear.
