COMMON CARPETGRASS
Axonopus affinis

Perennial, warm, introduced, fair grazing for wildlife and livestock. 1-2 1/2' tall with flat stems and stolon, bearing flat, short, rounded blades. Takes root at nodes. The inflorescence has 2-3 racemes on a long slender stem. The spikelets are fuzzy and not over 2 1/2 mm long. Grows best on bottomland soils and managed as a pasture plant. Areas 1, 2, 3.

Aristida wrightii

Perennial, warm, native, poor grazing for wildlife, fair grazing for livestock. 1-2 1/2' tall, erect, densely-tufted bunchgrass. The leaf collar is hairy. Seed head purplish at first then turning straw yellow to ashy gray when dry. The spikelet has 3 spreading awns up to 1" long with two bending horizontally about the midpoint. Spikelets in clusters of 2-4 along the main stem. Uplands-hills and plains. Areas 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10.
