Eriochloa sericea

Perennial, warm, native, fair grazing for wildlife, good grazing for livestock. 1-4' tall stems growing in large tufts. Base of stems have lead pencil feel. The blades are soft and lax. The ligule is a dense ring of straight hairs. The pale seed head has single fuzzy seed in rows, borne on very short, hairy stems. Seeds are set in a cup having a ring-like base. Seeds fall leaving fuzzy zig-zag stem. Grows best on hills and ridges, mostly under protection. Decreases with heavy grazing but will increase with proper use. Contains some green vegetation during winter on properly stocked ranges. Areas 2, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8.

Eragrostis trichodes var. trichodes

Perennial, warm, native, poor grazing for wildlife, good grazing for livestock. 2-4' tall stems, tufted, erect, bunchgrass. The sheaths are hairy at the throat. The panicle is long, open, oblong, 1-2', with purplish to pale, 6-10 flowered spikelets. The spikelets are borne in clusters at the tip end of the seed branches. Grows on upland sandy soil. Managed best in a pure stand as it is very palatable. Areas 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9.
