PERENNIAL RYEGRASS
Lolium perenne

Perennial, cool, introduced, fair grazing for wildlife, good grazing for livestock. 2-3' tall with erect stems having a dark green color with dark swollen joints. The spikelets are set edgewise and fit into the concave rachis. There are prominent auricles at the leaf collar. Lemmas can be awned or awnless. Grown as lawn. meadow and improved pasture grass. Areas 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 8, 9, 10.

Muhlenbergia porteri

Perennial, warm, native, poor grazing for wildlife, good grazing for livestock. 6"-2' tall, forming large bunches of tangled stems and leaves and growing most commonly under the protection of thorny brush. Mass often resembles a bird's nest. Blades and stems are short and fine. Blades soon fall frorn sheath. Inflorescence 2-4" long, purplish to white with single short-awned florets borne on short pedicels. Grows on hills, mesas and plains under protection of brushy plants. Decreases with heavy grazing. Areas 6, 7, 8, 9, 10.
