Burclover (Medicago minima)
Burclover (Medicago minima)

Burclover can completely cover lawns, bedding grounds and heavy-use pasture areas following wetter than average winters. Its annual seeds can persist in the soil for years. Late winter sprayings can control it. However, because burclover provides excellent forage for sheep and goats, some ranchers are reluctant to try and control it even though it can extend over widespread areas. A larger species (M. polymorpha) is more common in eastern parts of the state.
