Threeawn, needlegrass (Aristida spp.)
Threeawn, needlegrass (Aristida spp.)

Numerous threeawn species are present on most rangeland, especially on shallow soils abused by excessive grazing. Reduction may be achieved with long-term range improvement promoting desirable competing species and by removal of livestock when seeds are shedding. In years of heavy seeding of Texas wintergrass or threeawns, spring-born lambs may need to be shorn to reduce severe damage.
