Beggar's lice, wild carrot (Daucus pusillus)

These can be scattered or locally concentrated in pastures following above average moisture in fall and winter. They provide palatable grazing for sheep, goats and deer in late winter. Seeds mature in early summer with tiny hooks that cling to about anything they touch. Prescribed burning or herbicides in late winter may be useful in its control.
