West Nile Virus Information Sheet
TEXAS DEPT. OF HEALTH — West Nile virus (WNV) was first isolated in North America in New York City in September of 1999. The following year one additional state had positive WNV tests. Nine states tested positive in 2001, and 25 states, including Texas, have confirmed the presence of WNV in 2002.
